Asian Games is the largest multi-sports session held in Asia every four years, alternately held with the Olympics. Initially sponsored by the Asian Games Federation, after 1982 it organized by Olympic Council of Asia. Since the beginning of the first session in 1951, It has held 15 sessions so far. International Olympic Committee recognized the Asian Games as an official Asian Games. According to Olympic Council of Asia in July 2009 resolution, the original postponed until 2018 Asian Games held in 2019, is still held every four years later. In 2010, the 16^th Asian games will held in Guangdong Guangzhou, China in November 12, 2010 to 27.

Asian Games has become an important part of the Asian people and athletes to promote the development of sport in Asia, strengthen solidarity, friendship and understanding to maintain peace in the Asian region. Because of its significant impact, every Asian country take holding the Asian Games as due international obligations and responsibilities, are all vying for the right to host.

 The 16^th session Guangzhou Asian Games will be located 42 events, is the largest events of the Asian Games history, In addition to 28 Olympic Games, the Asian Games there are 14 official events of non-Olympic events, including the new Go, wushu, dragon boat racing, sepak takraw, cricket and other traditional items. After the Asian Games Guangzhou will hold the Tenth Asian Disabled Games.
